Mechanics inspect, repair, and maintain different types of vehicles including cars, vans and trucks. They are also known as auto mechanics, service technicians or service techs. Mechanics repair or replace vehicle parts when they are broken. They also run maintenance checks to make sure a vehicle is operating properly.
Mechanics need to know all about the different parts of the vehicle. Mechanics might work with different parts of a vehicle, such as, engines and electrical, computer systems, or bodywork. Although most vehicles run on gasoline or diesel, mechanics might also work on vehicles powered by ethanol or electricity.
